Hello, Pro-Life Friends ---
As many of you know, Jackson County Right to Life lost an important pro-life warrior in Southern Oregon on August 30th. Peter K. Cheney died at home with his family in Jacksonville following a valiant struggle with cancer. He was 59 and leaves behind a wife and three adult children.
For years, Peter was our chapter treasurer. In addition to his leadership role in our chapter, he was an important participant in the various successful projects that we conducted to raise pro-life awareness and save babies in Jackson County. Although we most often equate respect for life with innocent babies, respect for life is equally important when one is faced with one's own impending death and the pain that comes with it, as Peter was. Peter's wife, Lydia, shared with us that Peter never once considered shortening his life through euthanasia. He respected his own life, he trusted in Jesus, and he endured the suffering he was given until the end.
Peter's death leaves his widow in considerable financial distress. Lydia has herself been diagnosed with multiple health problems in recent years, is unable to work, and this past years medical bills drained virtually all of their savings. Many of the financial decisions and changes that the family will help her make will take time to implement, and meanwhile she is very cash-strapped.
If you would like to join with Jackson County Right to Life to provide Lydia with some short-term assistance, you may send a check as follows:
